The Trial of the Moke (1978) (TV) - As Unknown
Plot Summary
- From the Broadway Theatre Archive, this performance video of the play +Trial of the Moke tells the real-life story of Lt. Henry Ossian Flipper, the first black graduate of West Point military academy. In 1881, Flipper (Franklyn Seales) was involved in a conspiracy and framed for embezzlement by those who didn't want to see him succeed. In 1976, the play premired at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre.

 

Ragtime (1981) - As Gang Member #2
Plot Summary
- The story runs in the 1910's New York. Coalhouse Walker Jr. is a black piano player. He has won fame and fortune playing with a jazz band. Some white men do not like this situation, and one day they assault him and damage his brand new car. Walker tries by all means to get justice, without an answer.

Plot Summary
- Slavery in the South and the underground railroad which helped escaping slaves reach freedom are the subjects of this adaption of Harriet Beecher Stowe's 19th century novel.

 

Magic Sticks (1987) - As Bum
Plot Summary
- An impoverished young drummer obtains a pair of magic drumsticks from a street pedlar. When he plays with them he discovers native New Yorkers respond by becoming temporarily in a kind of magic state. He charms Shirley with the sticks, but finds that other dishonest parties also want the sticks.

Plot Summary
- Mystery/suspense series based on Robert Parker's "Spenser" novels. Spenser, a private investigator living in Boston, gets involved in a new murder mystery each episode. Using his years of experience, his natural talents for observation and reasoning, and the occasional bit of help from his friend Hawk, Spenser never fails to crack the case.

Eddie Murphy Raw (1987) - As Eddie's Uncle
Plot Summary
- After achieving fame with Saturday Night Live and Beverly Hills Cop, Eddie Murphy released a film version of one of his live stand-up performances. He mainly focuses on the topics of divorce and relations between the sexes, but also goes into some of the problems he's encountered because of fame, including offended listeners and fans who continually greet him with his unprintable catch phrases.

Plot Summary
- This musical is about fraternity and sorority members clashing with the other students at a historically black university. Dap (Laurence Fishburne) is a politically conscious brother who leads in demonstrations, but Half-Pint (Spike Lee) is willing to endure any humiliation to join the manly Gamma fraternity.

Coming to America (1988) - As Hold-Up Man
Plot Summary
- Eddie Murphy plays Prince Akeem, a wide-eyed innocent who decides that Queens, New York is the appropriate place to search for a woman to share his throne. The Prince and his servant, Semmi (Arsenio Hall) go to Queens, find an apartment and start working at a restaurant called McDowell's, where Akeem falls in love with the owner's daughter and they live happily ever after.
- The Hold-Up Man tries to rob the restaurant where Prince Akeem is working while in America. The Prince uses a mop handle to thwart his robbery attempt.

Dead Man Out (1989) (TV) aka Dead Man Walking - As Calvin Fredricks
Plot Summary
- Danny Glover and Ruben Blades costar in this made-for-cable death row thriller. Blades plays a condemned prisoner, while Glover plays his psychiatrist. The prisoner's behavior is so violent and erratic that he may be too sick to execute. Glover is brought in to calm Blades down--and if he does so, he will certify that Blades is ready for execution. Dead Man Out first aired over HBO on March 11, 1989.

Plot Summary
- This series features the character from Spenser for Hire. This time he is the star. We find Hawk now in Washington. D.C., and there he is called upon to help those who needs help or whose life may be endanger. Also people from his past come calling to settle old scores or to collect/settle old debts.

Plot Summary
- The movie is set on one block in Brooklyn. Blacks and Latinos inhabit the area, but the local grocery is run by Koreans and Sal's Famous Pizzeria, is owned and managed by the Italian American Sal (Danny Aiello), who commutes to work with his sons, Vito and Pino.
- Love Daddy is the DJ at WE-LOVE radio, who provides running commentary as his voice accompanies his neighbors on their Saturday rounds.

Sea of Love (1989) - As a Criminal
Plot Summary
- A Suspense/Mystery flick where Frank Keller (Al Pacino) is an NYPD homicide detective investigating a string of killings. All the victims were men who put rhyming ads in the personals. They go out on dates with all the women who answer the ad. Soon after Keller has a steamy affair with one of the suspects, Helen (Ellen Barkin).
- The criminal role for Mr. Jackson is at the beginning of the movie when Det. Frank Keller sets up a sting operation by sending out a flyer promising many criminals a day with the new York Yankees, but they all get arrested instead of course.

The Exorcist III (1989) - As Blind Man in Dream
Plot Summary
- The story takes place about 15 years after the original. A serial killer seems to be on the loose again. The problem is that the killer was executed 15 years before. George C. Scott plays a police officer tasked with tracking down the killer and his search leads him to a mental hospital. There he finds Fr. Damien from the original locked up as a patient and the bodies continue to pile up.
- The dream sequence is with George C. Scott moving through Heaven, which is presented as a Grand Central Station of sorts where the dead try to contact the living by radio.

Betsy's Wedding (1990) - As Taxi Dispatcher (Mickey)
Plot Summary
- Offbeat fashion student Betsy Hopper and her straight-laced investment-banker fiancé, Dylan Walsh, just want an intimate little wedding reception, but Betsy's father, Eddie, a Long Island construction contractor, feels so threatened by Jake's rich WASP parents that he blows the ceremony up into a bank-breaking showpiece, sending his wife, Lola, into a financial panic. Pressure from Betsy's extended family to include their joint Jewish and Italian-Catholic heritage in the ceremony doesn't do much to assuage the title character's worries, nor does the lovelorn bitterness of her older sister, Connie, who's single, her parents assume, because she has the audacity to pursue the unfeminine profession of police officer. With all of his funds tied up into the money pit of a house he's building, Betsy's dad has to turn to his crooked brother-in-law, Oscar, for financial assistance, and soon a soft-spoken but menacing young mobster named Stevie Dee is supervising Eddie's construction project and casting his romantic aspirations toward the clueless Connie.

Plot Summary
- Spike Lee directed this jazz film about a fictional trumpeter named Bleek Gilliam (Denzel Washington). He leads a quintet at the Beneath the Underground club with a flashy saxophonist named Shadow Henderson (Wesley Snipes). Bleek is forced to make decisions regarding both his best friend Giant (Spike Lee), and his relationships with two women.
- Madlock is a particularly nasty creditor that Giant ends up owing a great deal of money to because of his serious gambling problem.

Goodfellas (1990) - As Stacks Edwards
Plot Summary
- This "Wiseguy" movie earned six Academy Award nominations. It's based on a true story of mobster Henry Hill (Ray Liotta). A young kid as a sort of apprentice wise-guy starts out running errands for local gang boss Paulie. Skipping forward a few years, Henry is into protection, racketeering, fencing and hijacking. After a while the organization begins to fall apart.

The Return of Superfly (1990) - As Nate Cabot
Plot Summary
- Eddie Baker is brutally murdered by drug dealers and Superfly is conned into returning to the US by federal drug agents. He has to get back into the drug business and his sudden appearance rouses the suspicions of the two crooked cops controlling the city's drug flow. Later Superfly is beaten by the drug lord's men and his lady friend is shot. Now nothing will prevent the enraged hero from getting his revenge.

Plot Summary
- A Spike Lee drama that looks at interracial romance in present-day New York City. Flipper Purify (Wesley Snipes), an African American architect that seems to have it all, finds himself in an affair with an Italian American. After Angie (Annabella Sciorra) starts to work in his office, the two get caught up in the racial prejudice of their families and friends. As their lives unravel, so does their affair, and they wonder if their relationship ever had a chance from the beginning.
- Gator Purify is Flipper's crackhead brother.

Johnny Suede (1991) - As B-Bop
Plot Summary
- Johnny Suede is a young man with an attitude and an immense pompadour, who wants to be a rock n' roll star like his idol Ricky Nelson. He has all the stylistic accouterments, except a pair of black suede shoes, and one night a pair falls at his feet. Johnny then meets Darlette, a sultry bohemian who leaves him when he ells his guitar. Depressed about Darlette, he wanders aimlessly and meets Yvonne who teaches him that there are more important things than a pair of black suede shoes.

Roc (1991) (TV) - As Larry
Plot Summary
- Roc Emerson is a city garbage collector from Baltimore. He fights against the pressures of work and family life in an effort to do what he believes is best for his loving and understanding wife, Eleanor, his live-in dad, Andrew, and his irresponsible brother, Joey.
- In "Hearts and Diamonds", Roc is jealous when one of Eleanor's patients gives her flowers and a diamond necklace and he agrees to let him propose to her. She gets mad and when they make up he promises to get Eleanor nice stuff.

Plot Summary
- Fun-loving Bobby is a mail boy in a big firm, but he has a trump card, his best friend Waymon, a "white" African-American who is almost a partner in the firm. Dead and Alive: The Race for Gus Farace (1991) (TV) aka Mob Justice - As Hatcher
Plot Summary
- This is the fact-based story of Gus Farace, a wannabe mobster who kills an undercover federal DEA agent because he thinks he's a drug snitch. At the time the movie was filmed, it was the largest ever federal manhunt in U.S. history. In order for the feds to find him, they start harassing known mob associates of Farace to the point where their mob operations are being considerably hindered. The mob is afraid that if Farace is captured, he will give out secret information regarding certain members of the crime family. Therefore, the mob "puts out a contract" on Farace to have him killed before the feds get to him - hence the name Dead (the mob wants him dead) and Alive (the feds want him alive).

Plot Summary
- Four Harlem teens named Q, Bishop, Raheem and Steel find out an old friend was killed in a shootout at a bar. After this, Bishop (Tupac Shakur) tells his friends that they have no respect, or juice. To get some, they rob a corner grocery store, but Bishop intentionally shoots the clerk for no reason. They run into an alley where Raheem tells Bishop to give him the gun, they fight, and Raheem gets shot. Only the other three know what happened, and Bishop wants to get rid of them too.
- Trip is a neighborhood fixture to whom Q eventually goes for help.

Plot Summary
- The movie is about small town Sheriff Ray Dolezal (Willem Dafoe) who is called out to investigate a dead body in the desert. The deceased is holding a pistol and has a hole in the side of his head where he apparently shot himself. Dolezal finds out that the deceased was an undercover FBI agent and decides to assume the agent's identityto see where it leads him. His investigations steer towards a sinister weapons runner named Gorman Lennox (Mickey Rourke), while the FBI starts to wonder what has happened to their inside man.
- Greg Meeker is a sting operative for the FBI that has been trying to catch Lennox for over 2 years.

Plot Summary
- CIA analyst and reluctant hero Jack Ryan is forced to kill an IRA terrorist while preventing the assassination of a British Royal by the IRA. Jack Ryan and his family are hunted by the dead IRA man's brother. It's somewhat based on the novel by Tom Clancy.
- Lieutenant Commander Robby Jackson is a fellow professor and best friend to Jack Ryan. Robert Jackson awards him the Purple Target.
